"My First VO"
A VO is a voice over, I used footage called B-roll which is a cover over an anchor, and it lets the audience visualize what the anchor is talking about. I also typed a script which allows the anchor to read it but at the same time, showing footage to the audience.
Here, I used this footage for an assignment, and allowed an "anchor" on the Morning Show read the script that I made over the b-roll footage about the schools yearbook.
"First VOSOTVO"
A VOSOTVO in journalistic terms means "Voiceover, Sound on Tape, Voiceover. A VOSOTVO can also be named in different ways, a VOSOT, or VSOT. A VOSOT is just like a regular VO, but the main difference is, is that the b-roll footage contained is still a cover for the anchor, but it also includes an interview with one, or a few people.
Here, I used b-roll footage in the beginning, but then interviewed a few people and went back to using the ending b-roll footage. The purpose of a VOSOT is to have an anchor voice over the beginning of the footage, then use what's called a "soundbite" to allow the viewer see an interview happening, and that's when the anchor stops talking. This is why the video has just sound, and no voice-over, because someone on the Morning Show team has to read my script. In the end of the footage, the anchor will go back to reading the script, but in a conclusion statement.
The person who filmed this (me) has filmed more than what is shown here, this is because I had to select what I wanted to film that would summarize my story and script. This VOSOT was about the Freshmen experience and trust me, they were kind of nervous and shy to be on camera.
During editing, one of the hardest things I came across was that it was making the script, I had somewhat of a difficult time trying to brainstorm of what I want the anchor to say. Another part that I edited was the audio. The audio was kind of horrendous at first, because the microphone can pick up sound, but it wasn't to clear, so In Adobe Premiere Pro, I used a female, and male voice balancer, which amplified the sounds that the interviewees were speaking.
"The Experimental Backrooms"
This is a horror short film inspired by "The Backrooms" made by Kane Pixels. This short film is about an entity that follows you around the school and uses a dice to decide whether or not it will come after you, or leave you alone.
The filming process was sort of complicated because I had to take b-roll shots of a first-person perspective through a camera throughout the school, but the hardest part was the timing because people 0r very loud noises would sometimes be in the background spoiling the shot. I had many re-takes of certain parts, including the stairway scene, because of the noise and people walking around. I didn't film after school, which I should have done to make it easier for timing purposes, but I used my Study Halls, Lunches, and Crusader Periods, which are study halls as well, and I filmed the beginning, and the middle parts of the film with Alisha, and the last few parts I had additional assistance from Mr. Stoltzfus.
In my opinion, this is one of the best works I had ever done in Media Arts besides photography.
