"The Great Pumpkin Toss" is an assignment that all 3D design students participate in. The objective is to create a machine that will shoot a 3D printed pumpkin as far and as accurately as possible.
Pictured above is my pumpkin toss design. It has more of a crossbow aspect rather than a catapult. The black slide in the middle is pulled back into the notches to prime the machine. When the machine is aimed at the target, the person controlling the machine will flip up on the black slide, forcing it forward with the rubber bands to shoot the projectile. Me and my partner, Liam Dougherty, came in first place for accuracy. We were the only group who's machine actually hit the target. The only flaw with our original design was the flimsy slide piece (Shown in the first picture). It was weak and only lasted a few shots before it snapped in half. We went with a more beefy and hefty design which worked much better.
