Spread STEM
(Science of Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)
Our school has specialized in program writing, compared to other Ankariot schools. Our capabilities in programs like Scratch or Python (a programming language for high school students) can be useful to students in disadvantaged schools. Assistance and introduction to programming sessions may be organized for these schools. In addition, our school uses mBot from college to enable programming education. Thus, we are able to help students in less fortunate schools, who do not have access to mBot. Tutoring sessions will be organized to strengthen the links between high school students and college students.
Environment
Our team is fully engaged in the fight against climate change and for biodiversity. We work to make students major players in the fight against climate change, and we aim to make our school an exemplary place of environmental protection. In addition to raising awareness among our colleagues about the daily actions that help combat global warming, we aim to find projects that help improve biodiversity, reduce the carbon footprint of our school, promote eco-responsible actions within the educational community and to combat waste and promote action in the neighbourhood of the school. Events that our team will organize within the establishment include composting and recycling workshops, cleaning of green spaces as well as interactive lectures and exhibitions to draw students' attention to this global topic.
Gender Equality:
Gender equality is a fundamental principle of our team culture. This principle promotes a peaceful school environment, provides a protective environment free of gender-based behaviour or violence, and promotes diversity in orientation. We are aware that the value of gender equality is transmitted from an early age in school. This policy in our team as well as in the school is a necessary condition for the progressive dismantling of stereotypes and for other behavioural patterns to be built without gender discrimination or violence. Our goal is to build a culture of equality and mutual respect. In order to convey this awareness, we are constantly working for the recognition and implementation of gender equality among students. We will organize exhibitions on the great portraits of women scientists, we will have female figures from the Franco-Turkish scientific, cultural and diplomatic community.
Immigrants
As a result of political instability in many parts of the world, many countries, including Turkey, have been affected by an immigration phenomenon. We are organizing a movement of solidarity within the school in conjunction with the High School Life Council and local associations as well as local authorities to assume our citizen responsibilities towards the refugee reception process. To carry out this charity, we invite students to donate clothes so as not to leave young children rescued from the war in the cold, especially in winter. We would like to thank the generous families who have already brought many bags of clothing. Our team, very involved in this charity, organizes the sorting and distribution of clothes by category. They are very enthusiastic about participating in this project. It is at these moments that the word'solidarity' takes its full meaning.
Leukemia can't beat technology
LÖSEV is a foundation for children with leukemia founded by Prof. Dr. Üstün Ezer in 1998 in Ankara. Currently, it has expanded to Turkey and has branches in Istanbul, Izmir, Eskişehir, Bursa, Kayseri, Adana, Samsun and Antalya, enabling more than 45,000 registered children and adults with leukemia and cancer to receive aid. In 2008 the foundation established its first kindergarten and primary school for children with leukemia in order to provide the children under treatment with a medium level of education. Thus allowing many a good learning. Our team, grateful for its capabilities and opportunities, is pleased to share the STEM knowledge we have acquired throughout our incredible FIRST journey. In order to support the children of LÖSEV, who are near our school, and to provide them with our STEM knowledge, technological activities will be conducted. Hoping to broaden children's horizons, this project is one of our most valuable projects.
