At LCCS, the Fine Arts program inspires creativity, passion, and purpose. Students engage in dynamic classes and performances that celebrate their God-given talents while equipping them with the essential life skills of confidence, collaboration, communication, and excellence. Through a strong foundation in biblical truth and a classical approach, students are empowered to think critically and creatively, act independently, and impact the world of contemporary arts and beyond. The program fosters leadership opportunities both on stage and behind the scenes, encouraging students to lead with faith, integrity, and imagination. Every experience is designed to shape not only skilled artists but also thoughtful, Christ-centered leaders.
The Fine Arts Honors program includes Art, Band, Choir, and Theatre. Students will participate in each class’s extracurricular activities—such as Concert Band, Choir performances, and Theatre productions—and may choose from a variety of options to earn honors credit.

Advanced Placement (AP) Art is offered to students who demonstrate a high level of artistic ability. Students are required to complete a portfolio of work, which will be submitted to the AP Board for possible college credit. Two portfolio categories are available: Drawing and 2-D Design. Admission to the course requires the submission of a portfolio showcasing the student’s highest-quality work.
Art I is a foundation class that introduces the basic elements and principles of art. Students connect with their creative nature through various mediums and techniques such as drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture.
Art II, III, IV builds upon the elements and principles learned in Art I. Students are challenged with more advanced techniques and encouraged to pursue mediums and subject matter of a more personal nature as they build individual portfolios of work.
Students are required to complete a portfolio of 24+ works that will be sent to the AP Board for possible college credit. There are two portfolio category options: Drawing and 2-D Design. A very high level of work is required in this class. Students need to complete at least Art II and must present a portfolio of works to the instructor prior to AP class admission.

Concert & Marching Band is a class for grades 7-12 that rehearses during a class period. The band performs at school concerts, competitions, football games, and contests. Football players and Cheerleaders who are in band may also participate in marching band.
High School Band students can opt to take the Honors Band track. Honors students rehearse and perform with the Concert Band. Extra musical activities are required. All positions in the Varsity ensemble will be by audition with the expressed permission of the director.
Concert Band students may audition to participate in the LCCS Jazz Band. Rehearsals take place after school.
Concert Band students may audition for the Drum Line ensemble, which performs with the marching band at LCCS football games. Band students who also play football are welcome to participate in Drum Line as well.
Students may audition for All-Region Bands. Individual preparation is required, and private lessons are highly encouraged. Students must be enrolled in Band to be eligible to participate.

In the spring, the Concert Band participates in the TPSMEA Concert & Sight Reading Contest, Music Festival, and additional events through TPSMEA and TAPPS.
Supplies/Instruments
Beginner students are assessed and assigned the instrument best suited to their abilities. LCCS provides instruments for 5th and 6th grade Band students. Students in 7th–12th grade bands are strongly encouraged to purchase or rent their own instruments. Information on purchasing or renting instruments is provided at the beginning of each school year.
All Choir students are enrolled in Concert Choir. Rehearsals take place during a class period. The Concert Choir students are also divided into Soprano/Alto Choir and Tenor/Bass Choir. These ensembles will rehearse as needed during choir class time as well as additional rehearsals outside of class as needed.
All-State Choir
Students may audition for TPSMEA All-Region and All-State Choirs, as well as the TMEA Small School All-State Choir. Individual preparation is required, and voice lessons are highly encouraged. Students must be enrolled in Choir to be eligible to participate.
LCCS stages a full-length play each year. Students must audition to be considered for the cast, with audition materials provided in advance. Parent involvement is also expected as part of the commitment to the production.
Each spring, LCCS produces a Broadway-style musical that showcases the incredible talent of our students. The production features high school performers and includes ensembles from elementary through middle school, creating a dynamic, all-school experience. The excellence taught in Fine Arts classes comes to life on stage through these outstanding performances. Students must audition to join the cast, and audition materials are provided in advance to help them prepare with confidence.
All students are eligible and encouraged to audition for the high school play and musical. To ensure clear communication and expectations, at least one parent must attend the required parent meeting for each production. Audition materials are provided in advance, and audition dates are announced ahead of time.
Students involved in LCCS productions must be available for after-school, evening, and Saturday rehearsals. A full rehearsal schedule is provided at the parent meeting. Any conflicts must be communicated before rehearsals begin. All rehearsals are closed to guests and visitors. Students are expected to come prepared and conduct themselves with professionalism at every rehearsal.
Students interested in a lead role are encouraged to enroll in Theatre, Choir, and private voice lessons. Those selected for a lead role must be available for all after-school, evening, and Saturday rehearsals. Lead roles in the musical may require private voice lessons, which are strongly encouraged. Voice lessons are available through Rock Prep and other local providers.
The excellence that defines LCCS Fine Arts is made possible by the incredible support of our parents. Volunteering isn’t just important, it’s fun and rewarding! Parents of students involved in fine arts are encouraged to join in during the preparation and performance of each production. Whether helping with costumes/makeup/hair, set design and construction, cast meals, or backstage support, there are many exciting ways to get involved. Volunteer opportunities and sign-ups will be shared at each parent meeting. It’s a fantastic way to support your child, connect with other families, and be part of the joy and creativity that bring each production to life.
Student performers are required to acquire and properly maintain specific concert attire. Detailed information for concert attire will be communicated by each director.
The LCCS productions are fully planned and costumed by parent volunteers. Students will be occasionally asked to provide socks, tights or shoes. Black jazz shoes and/or character shoes are generally used in each production.
