Technology Acceptable Use Policy (Student/Parent)
Introduction
Lake Country Christian School (LCCS) provides access to technology to enhance learning, communication, and skill development. This Acceptable Use Policy outlines the expectations for student use of school technology and devices.
The LCCS wireless network is for educational use only.
All activity on school devices or networks is monitored and recorded.
Internet access is filtered in compliance with federal regulations (CIPA).
Students must follow school behavior expectations online and offline.
Misuse of school technology may result in disciplinary action.
LCCS takes reasonable steps to ensure online safety but is not liable for damages.
Students must report safety or security concerns to school staff.
COPPA Notice
LCCS may provide limited student information (name, email, username) to educational service providers like Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Canvas, and others. This complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Device Use
Pre-K to 8th grade use school-issued iPads; grades 5-8 take them home daily.
Grades 9-12 bring personal iPads or laptops (BYOD).
Students must bring charged devices daily and are responsible for coursework regardless of device issues.
Parents will be notified if students misuse devices or repeatedly forget them.
Device Issues
School-owned devices: IT will repair or replace; students must report issues promptly.
Student-owned devices: IT offers limited troubleshooting. Repairs are the family's responsibility.
No loaner devices are provided.
Internet Access and Restrictions
Students must use the LCCS Student Wi-Fi and may not connect to hotspots or use VPNs during school hours.
Passwords
Students must set passcodes on personal devices and not share them.
IT will assist with setting up school account passwords.
Photos, Videos, Backgrounds
Devices must be used in a respectful, Christ-honoring manner.
No photos/videos may be taken without permission, especially in sensitive areas.
Sound and Music
Devices must remain muted unless permitted for class purposes.
Music may be allowed at the teacher's discretion; content must be appropriate.
No headphones during tests.
Printing
Students must print assignments at home; on-campus printing from personal devices is not available.
Saving Work
Students are responsible for backing up work using Google Drive or email.
Technical issues are not valid excuses for late work.
Network and Connectivity
Network uptime is not guaranteed.
App Downloads
Teachers may require apps or books. IT will install for grades PK-8; high school students/parents will be notified as needed.
Device Inspection
Teachers may inspect devices and close inappropriate apps or sessions.
Violations are referred to administration.
Web Access
Internet access is filtered and monitored.
Students must not attempt to bypass filters.
Blocked sites may be reported to IT via a help ticket.
Email Use
School-provided email accounts are for school use only.
Use appropriate, respectful language and avoid suspicious links or emails.
Learning Management Systems
Use of platforms like Canvas or Google Classroom must be respectful and safe.
Do not share personal information or misuse collaborative tools.
Security
Do not open suspicious files or links. Report concerns to IT.
Do not attempt virus removal or install unauthorized software.
Netiquette
Use online resources respectfully and responsibly.
Avoid posting anything you wouldn't want shared or seen by others.
Plagiarism
Cite all sources appropriately. Do not present others' work as your own.
Personal Safety
Do not share personal information online.
Report any inappropriate or threatening content to an adult.
Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying is strictly prohibited and subject to disciplinary action.
All online activity is monitored and retained.
Parent/Guardian Responsibilities
Discuss appropriate Internet use and values with your student.
Limitation of Liability
LCCS is not responsible for damage or theft of personal devices.
Filtering tools are in place but not foolproof.
Social Media
Online behavior should reflect Christian values and LCCS standards.
Do not use the school logo or create accounts representing LCCS without permission.
Inappropriate posts, including those involving competitors or offensive content, are prohibited.
Be cautious of reposting from inappropriate or misleading sources.
Alert a trusted adult if you encounter inappropriate material online.

LCCS reserves the right to update this policy at any time. Notification will be provided via email.

Parents electronically sign this policy during enrollment.
Students electronically sign at the beginning of each school year.
