Elementary School follows a quarterly grading cycle. Families receive a report card at the end of the quarter. Parents have daily access to student grades in FACTS. Elementary teachers are required to update grades once per week.
The grading system and the values to determine the grade point averages for all divisions are as follows:
Conduct grades on report cards are indicators to both the student and the parents of the student’s attitudes and behavior. Respect for authority, proper manners, Christian relationships, willingness to do work, attitudes towards other students and staff, and following school policy are some of the criteria for the assignment of the conduct grade. All Elementary students will receive the following grades for Art, Eagle Lab, Music, PE, and Conduct in addition to their core classes.
E = Exemplary - The student consistently exhibits honorable character traits, such as humility, obedience, diligence, stewardship, kindness, self-control, orderliness, integrity, and encouragement to others. Student consistently exhibits superior effort and knowledge of subject matter.
S = Satisfactory - The student generally exhibits honorable character such as those listed above. Student generally exhibits admirable effort and knowledge of subject matter.
C = Cautionary - The student sometimes displays inappropriate behavior, which may include disrespect, disobedience, irresponsibility, poor stewardship of time and property, pride, poor social interactions, lack of self-control, dishonesty, foolishness, or complaining. The student sometimes exhibits effort and knowledge of subject matter.
N = Needs Improvement - The student frequently requires more than normal discipline and does not follow directions well. The student also exhibits characteristics described in C. Student rarely exhibits effort and knowledge of subject matter.
U = Unsatisfactory - The student requires constant discipline and is often a disturbing influence in class. The student also exhibits characteristics described in N. The student exhibits no effort or knowledge of subject area.
