As a student at LCA, we let you check out a Chromebook, Windows device, or charger for a period of time in order to get your work done and achieve excellence.
To checkout a device, please visit the Help Desk. Read over our list of checkout rules below.
In general, we enforce some basic rules about checking out devices:
The device you checkout (whether it's a Chromebook, Windows device, or charger, herein known collectively as a Device) is due at 3:30 PM the day you check it out on or date agreed to, regardless of what time of day you check it out at. We are lenient with turning in devices late if you had to check out early or attend a game, but please try your best in turning the device in on time. Otherwise, consequences will occur, whether they be fines on your account or the inability to check out a device again. Generally, we will not allow checkouts after 3:30pm, as we leave our offices shortly thereafter, but there may be exceptions to the case.
For every day the device is kept out, a $5 per day fee will be applied to your account, regardless of what device it may be. If a device is kept for longer than 3 days, the replacement cost of the device will be placed on your account until the device is returned to the Help Desk, in addition to the $5 per day fee every day after that.
If you need to check out a device for longer than a day, we will ask why that is the case, and then determine if you are allowed to based on your reason and your past check outs. Generally, we do not allow checkouts longer than a week, but there are exceptions to the rule.
If you are loaning out a device due to repair, we will allow you to keep the Device for as long as your personal device is out. We will let you know if there are any updates to your repair or if it is complete. If damage occurs to the loaner device while you are in possession of it, please visit the IT offices and we will assess the issue.
If a Device is broken and needs repair or is beyond repair while it is checked out by you, you are responsible for repair costs. We will notify you if there are costs associated with the repair, and they will be charged to your account.
All checkouts are logged in our checkout system that identifies the person who checked out the Device, what Device, and what tag number it is assigned. That being said, if you check out a Device and return a different device borrowed by somebody else, late fees will apply to your account due to the fact that the original Device that you checked out is not yet turned in.
Please be honest when it comes to the fact that you need to check out a device repeatedly or for an extended period of time- we are here to help. If your Device is broken, we can help you with a repair. If your charger is lost, we have spare devices on hand for you to purchase when the time comes. The more honest you are about your scenario, the more we can do to help you and the faster the service we can provide.
If both of of IT office doors are closed, please attempt to visit the Receptionist of the Upper School Building and leave it with him or her. Please, do not leave a device on any unattended desk without first attempting to talk to an IT staff member or somebody at the front desk. Otherwise, we can not confirm it was you who dropped it off and we may charge your account. When in doubt, hang on to it another day, and return it the following morning.
