Our Programs

Twain PTA is proud to support our school community with a wide variety of programs and events.

Some of our favorites are our annual Harvest Festival/Trunk or Treat, Talent Show, Twain Day Carnival, Fit-A-Thon, field trips, Reflections Art Program, Read Across America Week, Teacher and Staff Appreciation, assemblies, family nights, spirit wear, yearbook, classroom grants, and so much more. PTA programs are organized by our volunteer committees and Executive Board in coordination with school administration and teachers.

We welcome all volunteers, community partners, and supporters. Contact us to learn more about how you can get involved in building an amazing school community and fun and enriching experiences for our students!

Field Trips

PTA provides funding and support for every classroom to attend field trips in addition those provided by the school district.

Yearbook

Twain PTA proudly produces an all-school yearbook to capture treasured memories for our families. In 2024-25, we created a 5th Grade Yearbook Club to help design the book!

We Want YOUR Photos!

Anyone can submit a photo for consideration to be included in the yearbook. Here's how: sign in to treering.com. Navigate on left bar to Shared Photos. Upload your photos and then scroll down to select the appropriate class or school event folder for the current school year.

Veterans Day Celebration

PTA organized a special celebration for Veterans' Day featuring honored veterans, a flag salute led by Twain’s Girl Scout troop, songs, artwork created by students, and Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson.

Reflections Art Program

Twain did not participate in the 2024-25 Reflections Art Program. However, we hope to participate again next year, encouraging student self expression through the arts!

Winter Fun! Giving Tree, Winter Traditions Art, Holiday Shop, Spirit Week & Winter Musical

PTA celebrated the 2024 winter season with a Giving Tree and Toy Drive, a fun Spirit Week, Winter Traditions Art, a Holiday Shop, and our first Winter Muscial.

Book Fair, Read Across America, and Literacy

Read Across America Week and Booknic

We celebrate literacy by organizing a fun spirit week for Read Across America that features a Booknic where all students and families can read together on the lawn.

Book Fair

Twain PTA hosts book fairs to share the joy of reading and bring free books to our students and school!

Fit-A-Thon and FUNdraising Events!

Fit-A-Thon is our main fundraiser of the year that culminates with a special day where students complete a fun themed obstacle course!

Garden and Outdoor Education

PTA support established Twain's beautiful Garden more than 10 years ago. Since then, PTA has offered garden programming and outdoor education through a Green Team and Garden Club.

In 2024, Twain contracted with the nonprofit Ground Education to update and maintain the garden, and PTA provided funding for all students to receive 2 months of outdoor education with Ground Ed.

Family Engagement

Harvest Festival

Twain's annual Harvest Fest / Trunk or Treat event is a family favorite each year!

Family Sweetheart Dance

Twain PTA hosted a glow themed family dance in February, bringing back a wonderful tradition for our community.

Parent Workshops

Twain PTA brings parents, cargivers and members informational programming and workshops.

In 2025 we presented the PTA Connected: Ready, Tech, Go! program that helped Twain families better understand screen readiness for kids and create healthy digital habits in their homes. We received a grant from National PTA and a technology grant from AT&T where we received 25 laptops to distribute to eligible families!

STEM Enrichment

Twain PTA support STEM Enrichment through events like Family STEM Night and STEM Fair.

Student Talent Show!

Twain PTA produces an annual talent show for all students each spring!

Teacher and Staff Appreciation

May is Teacher and Staff appreciation Month!

Twain PTA celebrates our awesome teachers and staff by organizing a week of celebrations, a staff appreciation lunch and more.

Teacher of the Year & PTA Awards Celebration

Twain PTA honors a special teacher each year based on nominations from our students and families.

Nominations are due at the end of March and reviewed by an impartial judge.

The winner is announced in May and is submitted to Long Beach Council PTA to be considered for it's annual award and a grant prize.

Twain Day School Carnival

Family Fun!

Each year Twain PTA welcomes summer with it's annual school carnival - Twain Day! A highlight is a student raffle of baskets donated by each classroom.

All students receive free food, games, raffle basket tickets, and play. Families join the fun too!

PTA Participant Waiver & Photo Release - English.pdf

California PTA requires us to have on file signed participation forms--both the waiver and photo release--for all students and participants in PTA activities during the year.

If you have not already done so this school year, download and complete the 2 required forms and return them to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. Hard copies are available in the office.
