12th Grade Preparation
This is it! The last year in high school! After this school year, your student will enter adulthood. Together, you and your student have made significant progress. During the twelfth grade school year, your student will apply to college, apply for college funding, and commit to a college. All of that will happen before graduation!
Please advise your student to regularly check in with the College and Career Center of their guidance counselor. College applications can be confusing, time-consuming, and challenging. We are always here to help!
Fall Semester
Decide if you’ll apply for Early Decision or Early Action
Early admissions deadlines vary by each college but tend to fall between November 1st - 15th.
Take challenging classes
Stay ahead of your deadlines
Fill out the FAFSA® with your parents (Opens Oct. 1) - Deadline March 2nd
If the student is undocumented complete CADAA
Tell your school where to send your transcripts
Edit and perfect your application essays
Apply for scholarships
Finalize and submit your college applications. Make sure to avoid these common mistakes.
Schedule and prepare for college interviews (if applicable)
Spring Semester
Finish strong! Aim to get your best grades yet.
Follow any additional instructions you receive from colleges
Check the mail for acceptance letters and scholarship offers
Review scholarship offers and financial aid awards
Make your final college decision
Complete the next steps to finalize your acceptance (May 1st) is Commitment Day
Accept financial aid awards and make decisions about housing
Graduate from high school
