Get your student involved in activities (sport teams, arts and crafts programs, theater/song/dance programs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc.)
Empower your student with jobs/responsibilities (clean their room, take care of a pet, chores, help with younger siblings, etc.)
Help your student understand that it's OK not to win or be the first to complete an assignment. As long as they have put 110% effort, then they have succeeded.
Praise your student DAILY: Good job! Nice try! I like how you put your uniform on all by yourself this morning, you are amazing, I love you, I appreciate you trying your very best, the list is endless...
Help your student learn to lose. A great winner has to have experience losing to truly appreciate their own hard work.
When we are thankful we feel better about ourselves. Watch this cute video (7:45). Start your own Gratitude Jar - show Mrs. Gjonovich how you decorated it and just maybe you will get a special prize from me. Email me a picture of your Gratitude Jar to ygjonovich@lbschools.net
