NAF advisory boards provide an essential bridge between schools and the workplace. NAF advisory boards collaborate with academies to prepare students for success in college and career.
- Consists of at least 10 members and include representation from business, employers, post-secondary education, parents, students, alumni, academy leadership, and school or district administration.
- Maintains current strategic plans, updated by-laws, financial policies, and a succession plan
- Meets regularly and operate defined committees
- Reviews academy data, participate in the NAF Academy Assessment and provides input on the academy action plan
- Provide teachers with curriculum support and professional development
- Participates in classroom activities and student projects
- Assists in providing students with a sequence of work-based learning experiences, including paid internships, based on the academy work-based learning plan
- Leverages corporate connections to raise awareness of the academy and build community support
- Serve as advocates for the academy
- Provide and solicit financial support from the community to ensure academy sustainability
- Finds, funds, or furnishes paid internship opportunities
