Ms. Ashley here -

This is my 11th year teaching music and my first year teaching music at Edgewater. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing my passion for the creative arts with all of you!

Before joining the Edgewater team, I taught music K-3 at St. Patrick and at St. John Fisher Jr. I am singer, play a variety of instruments and love to dance. I love being able to share my passion for the performing arts with my students. I have a particular affinity for musical theatre and I am also a professional actress. I studied Education (ECEE), Music and Theatre at Concordia University. I live with my husband Jason, who is also a teacher, and our dog Sadie.

Starting in K4, students at Edgewater learn to keep a steady beat, understand rhythm and the fundamentals of music, as well as engage in proper singing and playing technique. Gaining a solid foundation of music helps our students to be successful on a variety of instruments. Students are provided with opportunities to create and play music together in various forms. In our music room, students learn that music is for everyone and are encouraged to let their creativity and uniqueness shine! Instruments that are played in the music room at Edgewater include a variety of percussion, ukulele and many more!

Weekly Schedule

Kindergarten receives 30 mins of music per week. Grades 1, 2, 4, 5 & 6 receive 60 mins of music per week and grade 3 + 341 receives 90 mins of music per week.
