TEAM

Dr. Yan Zeng is a staff scientist (PI) in the Materials Sciences Division at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and leads a team focused on the development of AI-powered autonomous labs for energy materials discovery.

Between March 2020 and December 2022, Dr. Zeng was a postdoctoral researcher with Prof. Gerbrand Ceder at LBNL, where she built the first autonomous solid-state synthesis lab and discovered novel superionic conductors for use in all-solid-state batteries. Dr. Zeng is interested in using synthesis theories and in-situ experimental tools to synthesize inorganic materials in the lab.

With a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from McGill University, Dr. Zeng is an expert in developing inorganic materials and has a track record of innovating scalable processes for materials with exceptional electrochemical performance in rechargeable Li-ion batteries.
