The 2025 Berkeley Lab Research SLAM was held on Thursday, September 18, at Berkeley Lab's Building 50 Auditorium. Two SLAM alumni co-hosted the culminating live event: Yumary Vasquez, a Postdoc in the Joint Genome Institute, and Dennis Noll, a Postdoc in the Physics Division.

Twelve finalists took the stage to communicate their science in a clear and concise three minutes to impress the panel of esteemed judges. First place and People's Choice were awarded to Syed Saqline of the Energy Technologies Area. Second place went to Thasneem Frousnoon of the Biosciences Area, and Yashwanth Balaji of the Energy Sciences Area won third place.

Syed, Thasneem, and Yashwanth will advance to the regional Bay Area Research SLAM on Oct. 23 to compete against the finalists from Lawrence Livermore National Lab, Sandia National Labs, and SLAC National Lab.
