The East Canyon Projects is a multi-project managed by the Projects & Infrastructure Modernization and Facilities Divisions. The various projects will create major utility infrastructure upgrades to prepare the Lab for future research construction (NERSC) and development, as well as improve the reliability and safety of the Lab's electrical systems.

Because of the magnitude of this outage, building systems must be powered down at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, July 14. We know this could affect normal work day schedules. Please consider how much time you will need to put your equipment in safe and stable mode by 5:00 a.m. July 14 and plan accordingly.

TIMING
Monday, July 14, 5:00 a.m. Mechanical building systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, cooling, etc.) shut-offs begin. Building tenants should put equipment in safe and stable mode before that time and on-site personnel exit the building.
Monday, July 14, 6:00 a.m. Electrical building systems shut-offs begin.
Monday, July 14 - Thursday, July 17 Building access is restricted.
Friday, July 18, 6:00 a.m. Buildings re-open as normal.
FOR BUILDING TENANTS
All building tenants are asked to place equipment in safe and stable mode by 5:00 am on Monday, July 14. Use this guidance from EHS to prepare your lab or technical area.
Standby power is available only to equipment that is already connected to e-outlets.
For temporary power needs, reach out to your Facility Area Manager to review the current Temporary Power Request Form. The due date for this action is Monday, March 17.
Unless exempt, the buildings will be inaccessible during the power outage. If you require emergency access, contact the Site Operations Center. Refer to the Emergency Access Process for more information. Please coordinate any special access requests with your Operations Deputy. Once your Operations Deputy approves the request, follow the Emergency Access Process.
