This workshop on Pilot Lines for emerging energy storage technologies will convene experts across the entire ecosystem to identify the critical needs for pilot line capabilities and to discuss approaches to resolve this key bottleneck to US energy storage innovation. Invitations extend to industry leaders, investors, and researchers from academics, national laboratories, small, and large companies.
The workshop begins with presentations on the importance of pilot lines and with panels from leading entrepreneurs who will discuss economic considerations and technological requirements and their paths towards commercialization. The second half of the workshop focuses on working groups of stakeholders who will strategize on approaches to reduce this bottleneck.
The project objective is to generate a comprehensive report on the current state and future needs for emerging battery pilot line infrastructure; the ultimate goal is to improve US energy storage dominance through improved manufacturing. Emerging chemistries/technologies that will be discussed include: flow cells, lead acid, batteries with Zn anodes, sodium ion, all approaches to solid state, LiS, and power electronics.
