FOR Interns
Overview
From the infinite scale of the universe to the infinitesimal scale of subatomic particles, researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory – Berkeley Lab – are advancing the scope of human knowledge and seeking science solutions to some of the greatest problems facing humankind. Scientific excellence and an unparalleled record of achievement have been the hallmarks of this Laboratory since it was founded in 1931. Berkeley Lab is a multi-program science lab in the national laboratory system supported by the U.S. Department of Energy through its Office of Science. It is managed by the University of California and is charged with conducting unclassified research across a wide range of scientific disciplines.
We invite you to become a part of the Berkeley Lab community, where our mission is to bring science solutions to the world. This 10-week paid summer internship program will pair undergraduate student interns with Berkeley Lab staff to work on some of the world’s most important challenges. As part of the ASPIRES program, interns will be part of an Energy Sciences Area intern cohort and have access to our planned summer networking activities such as scientific seminars, facility tours, poster sessions and more. Interns will engage in hands-on experiences and gain exposure to the everyday life of scientific and operations staff.
The program projects focus on scientific disciplines such as materials, chemistry, physics, nanoscience, and computing, while the STEM-adjacent projects focus on science communications roles.
