For us to achieve the greatest scientific impact with the people and resources entrusted to us – a responsibility we call “stewardship” – we need a strategy. 

The core of our strategic planning is our Lab Plan. Every year, Berkeley Lab and the other Office of Science national labs present their plans to the U.S. Department of Energy. Our Lab Plan’s framework rests on the foundational strategic priorities of our six research areas, five national user facilities, and operations teams.  

Whether you do science or support science, you play a critical role in our Lab’s success. Please use this site to connect your work to the Lab’s and the federal government’s strategic priorities, on which our mission is built, so that everything you do is of the greatest possible value to the nation and the international research community.
