Year 7 and 12 are expected in on Tuesday 2nd September 2024 for the first day of term, the rest of the school start on Wednesday 3rd September.
Key Points:
Arrive for 8.45 am in full school uniform and go to Big School like you did in July
Bring outdoor PE Kit with you in a bag that you can easily carry - you will need to carry this to Hart Field. (Very occasionally there are items of kit that haven't arrived by the start of term, if this is the case then please don't worry, just ensure they have something suitable for the activities that day)
Bring a school bag with water bottle, a fully equipped pencil case, your sheet of summer challenges
Lunch is provided from the canteen free of charge for the day, but you may bring a packed lunch if you wish.
Depart at 3.30pm

All students are expected to wear correct school uniform, as it plays an important part in establishing a community spirit and also encourages students to take a personal pride in their own appearance. They are expected to wear it on the way to and on the way from school each day. The school expects that the appearance of all students will reflect credit on the individual, the family and the school itself.
Tie: Each boy will wear his House tie :

Shoes: Black. Not boots/trainers
Shirts and Collars: White
Jumper: Navy blue V neck. Please note – this is intended to supplement the school blazer, it is not intended to be a replacement for it.
Blazer: Standard type, navy blue (not black) and single breasted, with badge.
Trousers: Black or dark grey trousers
Pupils should wear a smart, plain coloured outdoor coat; denim jackets or hoodies are not allowed. If a student wishes to wear something warm then they must wear a navy V-neck jumper under their blazer. We cannot accept responsibility for leather coats, jackets or other expensive fashion items.
Long hair should be tied back when in practical settings such as laboratories and workshops. Extremes of hair styles, shaved heads or patterns shaved into extremely short hair are not acceptable. An inappropriate appearance will not be permitted, and the Headteacher reserves the right to
decide the suitability of appearance and clothing for school wear, especially as fashions are constantly changing and particularly in response to any particular cultural/medical requirements.

Students in Year 7 will be told their arrangements for physical education on the first day of the Autumn Term.
Physical Education Uniform
Outdoor Physical Education Uniform:
This uniform will be used for the double physical education lesson in the autumn and spring term. The following uniform is compulsory unless otherwise stated (*including when students are ill/injured).
Gilbert House Rugby Jersey – the reversible colour depends upon the House that your son is in
Gilbert Navy blue rugby shorts
Gilbert Navy blue socks
Rugby/football boots (Rugby & Football) or
Trainers (Hockey, Cricket, Tennis & Athletics)

Indoor Physical Education Uniform:
This uniform will be used for the single physical education lessons, and the summer double physical education lessons. The uniforms consists of the following:
Gilbert White T-Shirt with the LSS Griffin – the colour depends upon the House that your son is in

Plain white socks
Trainers
No student will be allowed to partake in any activity without the correct physical education uniform. All kit must be labelled or marked with your son’s name. We will be checking that this is done during your son’s first lesson.
We have a range of Gilbert training gear to supplement the compulsory kit that is available to purchase if you wish.

Parents may choose to source shorts and socks from any alternative supplier, but they should plain in in line with the colours stated (Navy Blue outdoor / White indoor)

Finally, you may find it useful to wear a wristwatch as you will be responsible for ensuring you are on time to lessons. There are bells to help you, but you will need to keep track of how long you have left of breaktime/lunchtime to make sure you finish eating on time etc.
