During the distance learning period, school meals will be served by our Child Nutrition Department in accordance with the distribution guidelines typical during the regular school year. Breakfast is served free to all participants and lunch is provided based on the family’s eligibility status (paid, free, or reduced-price).
Breakfast and lunch will be served daily, at one time, on a drive-thru/walk-up basis. Meals are only available to students who are presently enrolled in the Laveen School District. Student identification is required to obtain meals and will be scanned upon receiving food. Meal payments will be deducted from your child’s account if you are on paid or reduced-price status.
Free and reduced price meals are available to students who qualify. Families that satisfy the income standard prescribed under section 9(b) of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (42 U.S.C. 1758(b)) will qualify for reduced-price, or free-price school meals. Under section 9(b), the income limit for reduced-price school meals is 185 percent of the Federal poverty guidelines, as adjusted. Section 9(b) also requires that these guidelines be revised annually. The income guidelines can be found on school meal applications.
