Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) 

Colleges/Universities use your FAFSA data to determine your federal aid eligibility. Many states and colleges use FAFSA data to award their own aid. After submission, you’ll receive your Student Aid Report

The 2024–25 FAFSA form became available December 31st 

You submit a FAFSA if you are a U.S. Citizen, National or Permanent Resident.

What you will need to complete the FAFSA:

• FSA ID (username/password)

  • parent/guardian FSA ID

  • If your parent does not have a social security number to create a FAFSA ID, there will be a protocol in place by January 2024 so that those parents can create an FSA ID

• Your Social Security Number (SSN)

  • parent/guardian Social Security Number (SSN)

    • if your parent/guardian does not have a SSN you will enter 000-00-0000 and sign using a FSA ID for your parent

• Drivers License (if you have one)

• Parent/Guardian 2022 Tax records/2022 W-2 Forms

  • Any records of untaxed income

  • Any records of assets

• List of schools you're interested in applying for 

  • ex. UCSB, SDSU, LA Trade Tech, CSULA, USC
