The Wildcat Initiative is a year-long effort to increase civic engagement within the youth of West LA. Throughout the course of the year, we led bi-monthly workshops for students ages 9th-12th grade, guiding them through the steps of contacting senators over the phone or through email. Each student individually explored political topics of their interest and intentionally contributed to these causes. Simultaneously, we presented to over 600 students during school assemblies, educating juniors and seniors on the meaning of civic engagement, the importance of voting, and the steps to pre-register to vote.Â
