LAUSD DIGITAL LIBRARY PERFORMING ARTS LESSON IDEAS
You might consider introducing your Drama teacher to Infobase Learning --> Bloom's LIterature --> Curriculum Tools -> Also, under Browse there are Essay Topics and How to Write About; there is the Shakespeare Center, too.
Another idea: Have students search the LAPL ebook library for books of monologues. The students can then prepare a monologue to deliver via video.
Introduce them to the Free Site --> Literature --> Storyline Online which is provided by the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. Have the students analyze how the professionals make the picture books they read come alive to the listener. Then have the students find practice making a passage from a book come alive.
Both the Drama and Dance teachers could also ask the students to create alphabet books related to their disciplines. E.g., there was a great alphabet book several years ago with fantastic illustrations about Ballroom Dances (each letter of the alphabet, animals performing the dances). The students can use EBSCO HS Explora and Oxford Reference as starting points. The alphabet books can either be how each letter reflects something having to do with Drama or Dance. Or, students can choose a theme, e.g., Ballet, Square Dancing, famous people in drama/dance. Oh, yeah, and don't forget that alphabet books are usually illustrated. So, each page is formatted, e.g., A is Axxxxx. 1-2 sentence definition/reason. Illustration.
