About Mrs. Brill

Thomas Starr King Middle School Film & Media Magnet

It's been a true learning experience since I joined the community at Thomas Starr King Middle School in 2016. In my journey as a special education teacher at King, I have had the privilege to work side-by-side with some of the most dedicated educators, committed parents and amazing students.

I have served in several capacities in the department of special education at King. I currently teach Common Core mathematics to 6th to 8th grade students with mild to moderate disabilities. I have also taught 7th grade Common Core English Language Arts and all core subjects to 6th to 8th grade students who are Emotional Disturbed (ED). I initially joined King as a resource specialist teacher in spring 2016.

My ties to King are rooted in the Silver Lake community, where I have lived, worked and played for more than two decades. My King Lion pride definitely shines when I speak to the fact that both of my teenagers graduated from King. I also write a weekly column about restaurant and retail news for the local news blog, The Eastsider.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. We definitely enjoy traveling to new places and seeking new adventures - whether it be traveling to far off places or hiking the local trails. And when I need some downtime, I enjoy reading, dancing, exercising, cooking, baking, gardening, watching movies and spending time with friends.

Prior to teaching, I worked in communications for nonprofit organizations.

I hold a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of North Texas. I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas.
