Structures of living things (2-LS2-1): Students are expected to make observations about living things and gather information from sources. This can be applied to the human body by having them observe and describe the different parts of the body, like bones and muscles, and gather information about their functions.
Scientific and engineering practices (2-LS2-1, 2-LS2-2): Students must engage in shared research, writing, and recording observations. Teachers can use this to support a unit on body systems by having students research different systems, write reports on their findings, and draw pictures or models of how the systems work.
2-LS2.1 Plan and conduct an investigation to determine if plants need sunlight and water to grow.
2-LS2.2 Develop a simple model that mimics the function of an animal in dispersing seeds or pollinating plants.
