Major Emphasis of the Course

The Medical Magnet Enhancement Directors Board (MMED Board) is the leadership organization for the John F. Kennedy High School Gifted Medical Magnet. The goal of this organization is to plan events for the students in the Medical Magnet and seek out opportunities for students to engage with the fields related to the magnet's theme. Within the MMED Board we discuss ways to encourage student participation in activities and ways that we can improve the experience of students in the JFK Medical Magnet.

Materials You Are Required to Bring to Class

Agenda/Calendar to track dates, events, activities
Pens (recommended to have many color options for editing)
Pencils, Covered Sharpener, and Eraser (you may use mechanical)
Post-it/Sticky Notes* (any color and size will work)
Highlighters* (many colors recommended)
Chromebook/Computer

The following are guiding questions in each unit for our Leadership class:

Fall Semester

Class Introduction/Committee choice and goals
What does it mean to be a leader?
What kind of leader am I?
How do we work together?
How do we effectively plan projects?

Spring Semester

How do I balance being a leader and practicing self care?
How can we positively impact our school, community, and/or the world?
What can I/we do to be of service to our community?
What do we do next?

The supplies on the wishlist above are used by MMED board to run events for students, learn about leadership and prepare materials for events.
