EmPowered Schools ProgramEmPowered Schools is a scaffolded 3rd-12th grade program that teachers can incorporate into their current science curriculum or use as supplemental material during homeroom, lunch, or after school periods. All five lessons are aligned to Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards, and the goal of the emPowered Schools program is to give students access to hands-on curriculum in order to analyze their campus’ energy waste. Students will use the provided watt meters, light meters, and infrared thermometers to conduct energy audits of their classrooms and based on their findings, provide feedback to students and teachers about how to save energy in their classrooms. The program is completely free to schools and teachers receive a $200 stipend for their participation. Interested teachers can learn more about the programs and how to register by visiting bit.ly/EmPoweredSchools.
