Student Body Elections

Student Council gives students leadership experience. The Student Council is elected in a school-wide election. Officers include: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, 6th and 7th grade representatives.

Responsibilities of the Council include:

1. Budgeting student body funds.

2. Helping to conduct school assemblies and sponsored events.

3. Conducting meetings using the democratic process


President (8th Grade Student):

Calls the meeting to order

Keeps meeting to its order of business

Handles discussions in an orderly way

States each motion before it is discussed and before it is voted upon.

Puts motions to vote and announces outcomes.

May appoint committees when authorized to do so


Vice President (8th Grade Student):

Assumes the role of President if the President is absent

Heads special commissions

Writes ideas on the board and tallies votes


Secretary (8th Grade Student):

Creates agendas for meeting, including typing and printing

Takes notes at every meeting and write minutes

Posts agendas/minutes


Treasurer (8th Grade Student):

Collects money from community service fundraisers

Collects money from dances

Keeps track of classroom tallies in various contests


6th and 7th grade representatives

To attend all monthly meetings [or as needed]

To report and receive all information to and from grade level pertaining to Student Council.

To perform all duties appointed to him/her by the Council.

To participate in Student Council committees.
