Absences & Make Up Work
PARENTS, PLEASE EMAIL A NOTE TO MRS. BLAINE REGARDING YOUR CHILD'S ABSENCE.
Policy for Accepting Absent Work
When a student is absent, I leave all work on the student's desk with a list of instructions.
Students have the same number of school days to make up the work as they are absent.
If a student has an EXCUSED absence, parents may request for classwork and homework to be sent to the office or to a sibling’s classroom. However, requests need to be made by 12:00 PM. Otherwise, I cannot guarantee I will have the work ready to send.
If no requests are made, or if requests are made too late, students will get the work when they return to school.
If a student leaves school early, the same rule as above will apply.
I will not ask for the make-up work. Students will need to take responsibility and turn it in.
Difference Between EXCUSED and UNEXCUSED ABSENCES
EXCUSED
Absence due to illness, medical appointments, and preapproved religious observances
Per District policy, students will only be provided with make-up work due to EXCUSED absences
UNEXCUSED
Absences due to trips or non-preapproved religious observances
*Even with a note, these absences are still considered UNEXCUSED
Per District policy, make-up work is not provided
Tests and assignments missed due to UNEXCUSED absences receive a score of 0
