Red House Studio focuses on building safe, sustainable, and affordable homes. Red House demolishes homes that have poison in them like lead and asbestos; using the waste, they grow Mycelium (the roots of mushrooms) around this to lock the chemicals in place and create building blocks for new, clean homes.
From my history with podcasting, Red House needed to be able to share its story's full, authentic mission with a different and broader audience of people. With that, I decided to cold-call podcasts to see who would be willing to interview Redhouse. Dr. Lesele gave my partner eva and I the opportunity to record for his podcast and then post. This was so powerful for us to be able to take control of our learning and use our voices to reach a larger audience.

This apprenticeship has given us great connections and resources within the greater Cleveland community. We successfully partnered with Case Western University for Chris Mauer’s soil remediation, which will lead to more significant funding for Red House. This collaboration with Case has also formed a relationship with Laurel School and our girls, allowing girls in the future to conduct research with Case Western around predicting pandemics and into their professional labs to grow their passion and knowledge within the STEAM field.
