I was featured on WKYC's "We the Kids" segment for my work in the NEO Youth Climate Summit. I spoke about my collaboration with the Mayor's Office of Sustainability in creating a comprehensive simulation for students to assume the roles of citizens, city council members, and industry executives to collaborate on meeting the goals of Cleveland's Sustainable Development Plan. I facilitated conversation between students and made them ask themselves and each other questions about what must be sacrificed and what is to be gained on the road to climate justice.
My fellow EJ classmate Faye Moledina and I were interviewed on NPR's "The Sound of Ideas" radio show to talk about the feelings young people have surrounding climate change and the action we are taking in response. This reached many members of our community and spread awareness for how climate change is affecting our mental health, how teenagers can cope with this through community organizing, and why it is such an important issue, especially for coming generations.
My classmate Ivey Williams and I were invited onto the All Things Green podcast to share the work we completed during our time at the Environmental Justice Semester and speak about how it has influenced our career desires moving forward. All Things Green is a local podcast and youtube channel that features hometown activists who are working to forge a greener society.
After spending some time working with Redhouse, an organization aiming to better the community with its work in biomechanical architecture, my classmate Laina Digeronimo and I wanted to find an outlet to share their story and draw attention to their work. We reached out to the podcast Environmental Justice Lab and began collaboration with them to air an episode interviewing Redhouse's founder Chris Maurer about Redhouse's mission and development process.
Eager to connect with other students in the movement, my classmate Laina and I reached out to the Environmental Justice: Sustained podcast, in which we spoke to four girls from North Carolina about youth climate efforts as well as the significance of both of our states in the climate movement. We discussed regional differences between the most prominent issues our cities faced and spoke about what we would advise young people who are looking to get involved.
