IES LAUDIO BHI
IES Laudio BHI is a high school located in the second biggest town in Araba, one of the three provinces in the Basque Country. Although it corresponds to the historical territory of Araba, geographically, the province of Bizkaia is near and so is its capital city, Bilbao. Different official educational studies are offered here, including Secondary studies and A Levels, (that is from 12 and 18 years old) and Vocational Training studies. All in all, there are about 900 students.
As for the staff, all together there are about 140 teachers and educators. There are many projects being developed at school right now, including ICT training and upgrading, equality workshops, normalization of the Basque language and the 2023 Agenda project.
About our project
Our new Erasmus+ project, "ThinkAI: Ethical AI for School Education", is an 18-month initiative at IES Laudio BHI designed to integrate Artificial Intelligence into our classrooms effectively and responsibly. Running from November 2025 to April 2027, the project addresses the need for methodological innovation and enhanced digital competences within our educational community.
Project Objectives
We aim to transform our teaching and learning environment through five key goals:
Professional Training: Improving student and teacher skills in AI through practical workshops.
Ethical Innovation: Promoting the responsible use of AI, focusing on data privacy, digital ethics, and critical thinking.
Inclusion: Using adaptive AI tools to personalise learning for students with diverse needs, including those in linguistic reinforcement programs.
European Cooperation: Strengthening international ties by sharing best practices with European partners and developing an eTwinning project.
Sustainability: Raising awareness about the environmental footprint and energy consumption of AI technologies.
Activities and Mobilities
To achieve these goals, our school will engage in several international activities:
Student Group Mobilities to participate in collaborative AI projects.
Staff Training: Teachers will attend specialised courses to master innovative AI methodologies.
Expert Visits: We will host an educational AI specialist to lead advanced workshops for our staff and students.
Expected Impact
Participants will receive Europass Mobility certification, recognising their improved linguistic, intercultural, and digital skills. By the project's end, we expect a 70% improvement in the community's ability to use AI tools for active learning and school management.
