These pages mark the ways in which the school has paid tribute in recent years to those Latymerians who have died.  Malcolm Smith, our former Archivist, has put together two comprehensive documents which bring to life many details of those of our school community who died in World War 1 and 2. 

We marked this year with a special video made by Mr Pugh, Head of English in the Prep school, who talked about his grandfather's helmet and the very moving story behind it. 

REMEMBRANCE 2020

Earlier in the year we celebrated V.E. Day during lockdown, culminating in the release of Malcolm Smith's summary of WW2 (see above). 

More can be read on the Latymer Foundation page here, including two reflections by current students: Santiago wrote  this piece on Ivan Burger and his younger brother Ralph, both Latymerians with German roots, whilst Olga wrote a moving piece on her research into a fallen soldier. 

Also, Greg Cook, the Chaplain, wrote this piece in the 'Latymerian' about the stained glass window in the Chapel which celebrates the safe return of the school after evacuation to Slough.

This year we started the tradition of 'I Choose to Remember' cards with each Latymerian choosing one fallen soldier to remember. 

REMEMBRANCE 2018

To mark a hundred years since the end of the war, the school Archivist, Malcolm Smith compiled a series of poems Latymerians wrote during the First World War between 1914-1918.  These can be read here. 

Under the direction of School Captain Wilkie Morrison, in 2018 current Latymerians read out some of these poems. These can be viewed individually below or as a whole here .
