It has been another superb year for sixth formers at Sir Joseph Williamson Mathematical School. The 214 Year 13 students who collected their results enjoyed enormous success.
16.3% of all grades awarded were at A*, up from 14.8% in 2023.
43.1% of all grades awarded were at A* and A, up from 41.7% in 2023, while 73.1% of all grades secured by students were at A*-B level, also up from 66.7% last year.
The average points per subject, a measure of the typical grade per A level, was 42.2, higher than the 40.9 in 2023, and which equates to a B+ grade.
28 students gained 2 or more A* grades. Remarkably, 59 students (28% of the year group) avoided any grade lower than an A, while 113 students (52% of the year group) avoided any grade lower than a B.
A key benchmark is the proportion of students gaining at least AAB, which stands at 48% of the year group, marginally higher than last year. 13% gained this in two facilitating subjects.
The Russell Group and Oxbridge hopefuls from the school had particular cause for celebration.
The top performing students were: Snehaa (4A*); Oliver (4A*); Melrin (3A*); James (3A*); Jacob (3A*); Neah (3A*); Toby (3A*); Arya (3A*); George (4A*); Benjamin (3A*), Oliver (3A*); Protyosh (3A*, 1A); Joseph (3A*, 1A); Chun (3A*, 1A); Jonathan (3A*, 1A); Irfan (3A*, 1A); Oluwakorede (2A*, 1A); Daniel (2A*, 1A); Amish (2A*, 1A); Christian (2A*, 1A); Rafiah (2A*, 1A); Hikmah (2A*, 1A); Kenneth (2A*, 1A); Aglae-Josephine (2A*, 1A); Darragh (2A*, 1A); Harry (2A*, 1A); John Paul (2A*, 1A); and Ella (2A*, 1A).
Principal Eliot Hodges said ‘I am delighted for all our students. They, together with their teachers, have worked really hard and it has paid off. They are a great group of young people who will now move on with confidence to the next stage in their lives’.
