We’re using a simple online tool called Flippity to help your child practise their phonics at home. These flashcards will help your child recognise and apply the sounds (phonemes) and spellings (graphemes) we’ve been learning in school.
You do not need to download anything or log in.
Click the button below to take you to the flashcards.
The flashcards will appear on your screen.
You’ll see one card at a time with a sound, word, or picture, depending on the set.
Click the blue arrows on the bottom right and left to move to the next or previous card.
Click on the flashcard itself to flip it over.
(This shows the answer, matching word, or picture on the other side.)
Say the sound or word before flipping the card.
Use it like a quiz: “What sound does this grapheme make?”
Mix it up – go backwards or flip to random cards!
Practise little and often – 5 minutes a day is great!
Check the volume on your phone, tablet, or computer.
Make sure your device is not on silent mode.
If using a phone, use the side switch or volume buttons to unmute.
There is also a sound button on the flashcards themselves – please make sure this is turned on.
(Look for the 🔊 icon in the top right corner of the flashcard screen – it should show as "on" so your child can hear the correct pronunciation.)
Flashcards include audio to help your child hear how the word should be pronounced..
Any phone, tablet, laptop, or computer with internet access.
