A huge well done to Roald Dahl class, who has 100% attendance this week! In KS2, Alan Turing are the winning class for attendance, well done!
Our attendance has dipped even lower as a whole school this week. After so much missed learning over the past few years it is so important that the children are now in school so that their learning is not impacted further. We cannot emphasise enough that the children gaps will widen the more time that they miss from school and they will then return with gaps different to their peers who have better attendance.

As part of our inquiry work about our heritage, Year 2 have celebrated Lammas Day and Harvest. We have inquired into the artist, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who created portraits using fruit and vegetables. The children practised observational drawing and colour mixing skills to create their own portraits in the style of the artist. We also went on a nature walk and found some blackberries and wild flowers.
Marcus Rashford
In our inquiry this week Marcus Rashford Class have been exploring Stone Age settlements such as Skara Brae and Stonehenge. The children have been exploring how prehistoric humans demonstrated the learner attributes; such as being a risk-taker and communicator.
In mathematics we have been learning how to use a variety of equipment such as base-10 and counters to add and subtract 3 digit numbers. We found this has really helped our understanding of addition and subtraction.
We have also started writing our own diary entry based on the text of the ‘Stone Age Boy’. We have explored what life was like in the Stone Age and thought about a variety of exciting adjectives to describe life in the Stone Age and what it looked like.
Alan Turing Class
We have been learning about equality around the world which used our map and research skills. The children have learnt a lot of facts and could tell these to any adults that they saw around the school. They've also been working very hard in mathematics, having to be thinkers as they work out the answers.

Joseph plays football at Woodpecker Football club and has achieved an award of Man of the Match in football for being great on pitch and in goal. He is a budding 'Goal keeper' for the future so watch this space as we may have a future England player! Well done Joseph!
Harvest Celebration 2021
We have been overwhelmed yet again by your generosity of donations of produce for the homeless charity that Miss Elms supports. We are all truly thankful and the produce will not only be used for feeding homeless people in Medway but also to make food boxes for low income families or those that need extra support.
It was great to see so many parents attend the children's celebratory event for Harvest, where they shared some fabulous singing, dancing, poems and facts around what they had learnt linked to this. I'm sure that you all enjoyed this as much as we did! The children made us all very proud.
Macmillan Cake Sale
As you all know, we had a cake sale to the children last Friday and then parents and children after school. This was all in aid of raising money for Macmillan Cancer support and was a tremendous success! So far we have raised a fantastic total of £256.00. We were amazed at the donations of cakes that were also provided from our families to enable this to happen so again, we'd like to say a huge thank you with your support! We still have some cakes left so will be selling them to the children at break time on Friday 8th October. They will only need 50p-£1 as we only envisage that they will be able to buy one cake each.
