PEPA Tots
This term for inquiry we were showing our peers our favourite books from home and looking at different pictures on them. The children really enjoyed explaining to their peers the pictures on their books and telling them what the books are about. We create art using different materials and our imagination. In maths we learn about compare and we played different games to work our understanding of subitising. We also use our writing skills doing 0 to 5 numbers, beginning to recognise how to write them.
Oliver Jeffers Class
Oliver Jeffers class have been enjoying their final weeks in Early Years, continuing to explore how the natural world transforms overtime and starting the transition to Year 1 pupils. We have had lots of firsts over the last few weeks, including our first sports' day. Miss Hartung has been very proud of the children for all they have achieved this year as well as how well they are adapting to the transition. It has been a very warm few weeks and the children have made the most of the outside area, including exploring for wildlife, finding and creating microhabitats and lots of water play to keep warm.
LAT Sports Day
What a truly fantastic LAT Sports Day we had last Friday! Despite the high temperatures, our incredible pupils demonstrated great teamwork throughout the day, cheering each other on and working together in every event. Their excellent communication skills were evident, from watching their team play to encouraging friends on the track. We were particularly impressed by the children's willingness to be risk-takers, bravely tackling new challenges and pushing their limits in every activity.
The highlight for many was undoubtedly the running races, which everyone enjoyed with boundless energy and enthusiasm. The obstacle course proved to be quite challenging, but it was wonderful to see how much the children loved the opportunity to test their agility and resilience. The adults who attended were thoroughly impressed, commenting repeatedly on the incredible perseverance the children showed from start to finish. Every child approached the day with a brilliant attitude, embodying our school values and making it a truly memorable event for everyone involved. Thank you to all the staff and event organisers who supported us in making it such a success!
Year 6 PYP Cluster Exhibition
Our Head Boy, Head Girl and their Deputies recently had a fantastic time showcasing their PYP Exhibition projects at the Hundred of Hoo Academy. They joined other schools from our LAT Cluster for an exciting display of inquiry and learning.
Our student leaders represented our school exceptionally well, engaging thoughtfully with other pupils' projects and asking insightful questions. They also enjoyed the opportunity to connect with students from across the cluster and, of course, the provided snacks!
We are incredibly proud of their contributions and look forward to sharing all of Year 6's Exhibition work with you on Tuesday, July 15th. Don't miss it!
Information
PEPA Transition Days
It has been great to see the excitement from the children on 10th and 11th July for their transition days. The children have enjoyed meeting and spending time with their new teachers and teaching assistants and exploring their new classrooms for September 2025. The children have been preparing parts of class displays for next year, sharing information about themselves and their learning as well as beginning to learn about their new class names. For some of our children, this time can be one of high anxiety and Miss Hartung has been busy working alongside class teachers to ensure that children who may need more support with transition, all have a booklet to take home over the summer to aid them with the transition process.
