This term is a busy one for Year 6! Although SATs are over (hooray!), the children are going to be working hard on lots of different projects as they enjoy their final term of primary school. So far, we have been busy finishing our writing, learning the songs for our production and starting to put our exhibition work together.
We had a great first week back where we filmed our graduoke video for the leavers' assembly and lots of children have had visits from members of staff from their new secondary schools.
Next week, lots of the children are excited about heading off on their residential trip and enjoying 3 days away from home taking part in lots of activities! Following that, we will be rehearsing for the production so that we can ensure we put on a spectacular show for everyone to see. Information about tickets for the production will be coming out in the next couple of weeks.
Enjoy some 'behind the scenes' photos from Graduoke, our end of SATs trip to Haven and the beginning of our exhibition work!
We are incredibly proud of the Year 4 class for their phenomenal effort and dedication in preparing for and taking their Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) tests. They've truly worked their socks off, consistently putting in fantastic effort not only during our dedicated practice sessions in class but also diligently reviewing their tables beyond the classroom. Their hard work, determination, and resilience throughout this process have been truly commendable, and it's wonderful to see the progress they've all made. Well done!!
This solid foundation in multiplication facts will be an enormous benefit as they move into Upper Key Stage 2, significantly supporting their learning in areas such as division, fractions, and larger number calculations.
The individual results of their MTC tests will, of course, be included in their end-of-year reports.
Year 1 and 2 Phonics Celebration!
We couldn't be prouder of our amazing Year 1 and 2 children who completed their Phonics Screening Check this week! They approached the assessment with such enthusiasm and confidence, demonstrating all the fantastic phonics skills they've been learning throughout the year. For many, it was their first formal assessment, and they truly rose to the occasion. We've seen incredible dedication in their daily phonics lessons, from mastering tricky sounds to confidently blending words, and this week was a wonderful opportunity for them to show how far they've come. A huge well done to every single child for their hard work and resilience – you are all phonics superstars! We'll be sharing individual results with you in their end of year reports. Thank you for your continued support from home, which plays such a vital role in their success.
Information
Child-Friendly Medway
Child-Friendly Medway is a platform to capture and respond to the voices of children and young people in Medway and we are contacting you to let you know about an exciting new survey ‘The Child-Friendly Medway Children and Young People Survey’.
It gives children and young people the opportunity to share what they think about living, learning, playing and growing up in Medway. This survey provides us with a pulse on what is most important to children and young people, as well sharing what their hopes and dreams are for the future.
The last time we completed a survey of this kind was in 2021 when we launched Child-Friendly Medway. We received over 3,000 responses, and this time we want to reach 5,000! Can you help us reach our goal?
From the 2021 feedback, we have developed an action plan, created the Child-Friendly Medway mascot, Mojo, and our Young Citizen’s Awards programme.
We work with partners to share a wide range of information and signposting opportunities as well providing Medway’s youngest residents with fun, exciting free activities, and events, helping to narrow the gap. Everything we do is inspired by the voice of children and young people helping make Medway even more child friendly.
