We read the story of three little pigs and made some pigs using different materials, letting the children decide the resources they wanted to use. They really enjoyed this activity, using their imagination to decide what clothes they wanted to put on the pigs.
For maths we've been learning about shapes and how to copy them onto paper, we also have been trying to find the different shapes in the objects in our class, organising objects by shapes. The children all did a really good job and have enjoyed learning about shapes!!
Road Safety
In assembly this week, the children were reminded about road safety in and outside of the school grounds. We reminded children about the Green Cross Code STOP - LOOK - LISTEN. The main steps of the Green Cross Code are;
Find a safe space to cross
Stop on the path just before you get to the kerb
Look all around for traffic and listen
If traffic is coming, let it pass, look all round again and listen
When it is safe, go straight across the road to cross and do not run
Keep looking and listening for traffic as you cross.
The children were able to identify that they shouldn't be playing in or by a busy road, that if they have a mobile phone, they shouldn't be using this whilst trying to cross a road and if a crossing is available they should use this to help them to cross a road.
We also reminded the children that our school car park is not a playground for before or after school and that if they are travelling to school on a bicycle or scooter, whilst we want to encourage this, they should be walking these into the school site and not be riding on them into the carpark. We also talked about keeping to the main paths in the car park and having respect for the trees and any planters we may have. The children were also reminded about the minibus coming into and out of the carpark during the mornings and after school and that they should not be playing by the minibus or any games in the carpark to keep themselves safe.
