Year 3 has had an exciting and engaging week at school, filled with new discoveries and hands-on learning experiences. We have embarked on a fascinating journey back in time to explore the world of the Ancient Egyptians! We have been learning about where Ancient Egypt fits into history and locating modern-day Egypt on the world map.
We also dived into the incredible rulers of this ancient civilization, learning about the mighty Pharaohs—Egyptian Kings and Queens who were believed to be gods on Earth. We are looking forward to learning more about them! Another key focus was the Ancient Egyptians’ strong belief in the afterlife. We discovered that they took great care in preserving bodies through a process called mummification, ensuring that the dead were well-prepared for their journey to the next world.
To bring history to life, we became historians and put our knowledge to the test with a hands-on science experiment: mummifying oranges! We followed similar methods used by the Ancient Egyptians, using salt and other natural preservatives to mimic the process of drying out and preserving a body. We are eagerly observing the results and will share our findings at the end of this module!
What a fantastic day we had on World Book Day! The excitement was palpable as all the children put in 100% effort with their costumes, transforming into their favourite book characters. Throughout the day, we had a blast with various activities, including an exciting book creator story competition, where the children showcased their creativity and love for storytelling.
We also participated in the national book token competition, which added an extra layer of fun. Everyone joined in the spirit of the day by voting for the best-dressed teachers, while our head boys, head girls, and deputies selected the best-dressed in each class—it was tough competition! To top it all off, every child received a book token to exchange for a book of their choice, ensuring the celebration not only honoured reading but also encouraged it. A truly memorable day for our school community!

Some parent comments;
‘Both my children really enjoy themselves at school and seem to be thriving.’
‘The school has accommodated my child’s individual needs. He has been treated with respect, understanding and compassion. The school has given him opportunities to thrive in a mainstream setting and are now supporting him in getting an EHCP. My child feels safe and secure and has exceeded all expectations.’
‘Keep improving SEND as it has improved this school year. It's so important these children are well supported and make progress.’
'Fantastic staff and Arlo the dog is a great addition.'
'Lovely school with amazing quality of teaching staff. My children are happy and look forward to school. They have a high level of support whenever needed and they are both excelling academically and personally. '
It is really important that we receive feedback from our parents so that we can continue to strive to improve the school for our whole community. Equally if parents feel we are already achieving well in certain areas, we then want to ensure that we keep these consistent.
Thank you again for your continued support.
