What an exciting week for our Year 4 pupils as they dive into their new central idea: 'Key events in history may have influenced the way Britain has evolved.' The week kicked off with an engaging provocation lesson where our young historians discussed their prior knowledge about the Romans! It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm and curiosity about such an influential period in British history.
On Friday, the creativity continued as they began to explore the fascinating world of mosaics! Using the thinking routine 'I see, I think, I wonder,' they generated brilliant insights. The conversations buzzed with ideas about repeating patterns, the religious significance of mosaics, and how art serves as a window into the past. One of our children even made their own mosaic outside of school and brought it in to show us - thanks for taking action and exploring learning in your own time.
Fantastic thinking and communication skills on display this week, Year 4! Keep up the brilliant work as we unravel the past!
PE Multi-skills event
I am excited to share some highlights from the recent multi-skills event in which our Year 3 and Year 4 children participated. It was a fantastic day filled with energy and fantastic sportsmanship!
The children's engagement throughout the day was impressive. Their cheers and support for one another created a lively atmosphere, and we were often praised for their excellent behaviour. Our students' spirit and enthusiasm were uplifting, and it made a real difference across all the activities.
Every child took part in each game, giving their best and showing great perseverance, especially in activities they were less confident in. It was wonderful to see them push their boundaries and encourage one another, embracing the challenges with determination. Taking part in such activities not only helps them improve their skills but also strengthens their teamwork and resilience.
A big well done to Connor (year 4) and Ryleigh (year 3), who received a special award for their determination throughout all multi-skills games.
Information
MedwayGo Easter activities are running from Monday 14th April – Thursday 17th April 2025.
Bookings open on Monday 17th March 2025 at 10am. Bookings going forward will be made through a new system called Eequ. Parents/carers can simply follow a link and book activities. Eligibility will be automatically checked and then the booking will be approved or rejected based on the eligibility criteria. Families can soon start to register interest here: https://eequ.org/medwaygo and book from 17th March.
MedwayGo provides holiday activities and food for school aged children. MedwayGo is free for children that are eligible for benefit related free school meals. We can also allow 15% of funding to be used for children classed as vulnerable, for example children with SEND, looked after children and military families. Once the 15% is taken up, bookings will be restricted to those who are eligible for benefit related FSM only. If families are not eligible for free places, they can access paid places. Many providers offer places at a reduced rate, so all children have access to the programme.
Eligible children will be able to book and attend 4 activities across the Easter programme. Whilst enjoying physical and enrichment activities, children will also receive a hot healthy meal. There are a range of activities on offer from sports, theatre workshops, outdoor pursuits, music and more.
Families can start to explore activities on offer from next week and book from Monday 17th March at 10am. More information will be shared on our Facebook page. Families can also find out more about how to make bookings through one of the many articles Eequ have created: https://help.eequ.org/en/articles/221041-how-do-i-make-a-booking.
The MedwayGo team are also holding 2 online Q&A sessions for families to ask questions about the new booking system. These will take place on:
