Year 1 has had a fantastic start to Module 3. The children have been working really hard already, and I couldn't be prouder of their efforts. Let's keep up the great work!
In Maths, we've been diving into the concept of doubling, and the children have been having a lovely time playing different games to help them understand it. It's wonderful to see them enjoying their learning.
We're also exploring a new Science topic all about nature, plants, and trees. The highlight so far has been our plant and tree hunt, which the children absolutely loved! The children eagerly explored our school grounds, identifying various species and discussing their characteristics.. It's been amazing to hear them excitedly talk about the different trees they spot outside of school.

Trip to the Imperial War Museum
Year 6 had a fantastic trip to the Imperial War Museum on Monday 13th January 2025! We engaged with a hands on workshop led by one of the museum's volunteers where she showed us different resources that we used during the wars, including a gas mask that babies wore!
We then visited the World War One exhibition where we learnt all about what happened during this time, tried on WWI style uniforms and even walked through a realistic WWI trench where we could see, hear, smell and feel what life would have been like for the soldiers there.
After that, we visited the World War Two exhibition where we tried out different types of air raid shelters, looked at how the enigma machine worked and learnt about The Blitz.
The children had a great day and have learnt some really valuable information that will support them this term and next as we delve deeper into our lines of inquiries.
REMINDERS ABOUT SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
What to do if my child has to be absent?
If your child is unable to attend school then you must contact the school office to inform us of the reason why. You can either phone the school or send an email. If you do not provide a reason for absence then it will be recorded as unauthorised.
If your child has a medical appointment then please provide evidence of this, so the absence can be authorised.
Punctuality
Good punctuality to school is essential to achieve full educational potential.
If your child is 5 minutes late every day, this equates to 16 lessons missed in a year!
Continued Absence
When we have concerns about the absence of a pupil we will contact parents and give them the opportunity to address this. Supportive meetings will be offered and we encourage parents to engage with these to help find a way to improve your child's attendance. Please be aware that if poor attendance continues then this could result in a referral to Medway which could lead to penalty notices/court action.
If parents choose to have their child registered in school, they have an additional legal duty to ensure their child attends regularly. This means the child must attend every school day, except in a few allowed circumstances, such as illness or if the school allows permission for an absence in advance.
Non-Attendance to school or unauthorised attendance, can result in safeguarding action e.g. a home visit. This is because persistent absenteeism and sudden changes in patterns of attendance and pupil behaviour, are a key indication that something could be wrong and could lead to sudden extended absences.
We thank you for your support with attendance.
