Our Wonderful Inquiry Work

JK Rowling

Year 4 are having a busy term! As part of our inquiry, we have investigated animals that include humans, specifically focusing on the digestive system. We worked together to complete an investigation which demonstrated the process of digestion. Using some biscuits, bananas, sandwich bags and tights, we were able to model how food is processed in our bodies. It was quite messy, but helped us to understand our digestive systems. Following this, the children wrote a brilliant explanation text using their scientific vocabulary to share their ideas. Well done Year 4 for being so knowledgeable!

Allan Ahlberg Class

Year 1 have been exploring different ways of making numbers up to 100. We have been using part-part whole models, and we have also been comparing numbers using <,> and =.

School information

Sports Day

Thank to you all our school community for supporting us with our Sports Days this week. We were so pleased to welcome families into school to join us for our first ever PEPA Sports Days and the children all had a wonderful time. We have been busy totting up the scores, and are pleased to share the results below...

The winning team for our Nursery, EYFS and KS1 sports afternoon were London Marathon 2. Well done to Annamaya, Luisa-Marie, Mya, Amelia-May, Felicia, Isabelle, Emilio, Wynter and Daisy!

The winning team for our KS2 sports morning were Team 3. Well done to Keeleigh, Amber, Ryan, Stephanie, Charlie, Morgan, Lola, Aurora and Noah!

Both of these teams managed to score the most house points for their teams.

Adults were also on the lookout for our Sportspeople of the day. These children received multiple nominations from different adults for their excellent attitude to taking part in events and supporting their team. The Nursery, EYFS and KS1 sportspeople were Shiloh, Shontelle, Jaynee and Riley. Our KS2 sportspeople were Kayson, Ryley, Delilah and Eva. Well done to all of those children!

Our running races were great fun, and further house points were awarded for the quickest runners. Our winners for running races were The Ashes!

Now we come to our final totals. These are made from all the points earned by all children across both events.

4th Place = WIMBLEDON (700 points)

3rd Place = THE ASHES (715 points)

2nd Place = TOUR DE FRANCE (719 points)

1st Place = LONDON MARATHON (725 points)

Year 4 Chef Aidan

Last Week, as part of the action they are taking this term, Year 4 cooked a meal and snack to be delivered to the homeless. We were lucky enough to have a professional chef offer us some help! Aidan Ross is a chef who offers cookery lessons to schools, as well as working as a chef in kitchens. During Lockdown, he supported the company he worked for by providing over 50,000 meals to worthwhile causes. Aidan spent the morning preparing in the kitchen and then (once we had washed our hands and put on our aprons) we joined him for a cookery class. We had to listen very carefully, shout 'Yes Chef!' when we were ready and worked hard to learn and develop new skills. Each child made 6 samosas from scratch and then we all worked as a team to 'plate up' our meals to be transported to the charity. Miss Elms works closely with the charity Time For The Homeless and kindly delivered the food that we made that evening. Thank you to Year 4 for working hard to create the meals, and to our parents and carers for supporting the afternoon with donations, aprons, bowls and rolling pins!

LAT Charity Cricket Event

On Friday 1st July some of our Year 5 and 6 children attended a Charity Cricket Tournament at Bexley Cricket Club. Throughout the day, they were tasked with playing rounds of Kwik Cricket against other schools in the trust. The children had a wonderful day working with and talking to professional Cricket players that were there as part of the event - they even had their t-shirts autographed! Our children did themselves proud with their determination and performed well throughout their tournament.

KS2 Music Performance

All of our KS2 children took part in a fantastic music performance to the whole school and our parents. They demonstrated their wonderful skills in playing the steel drums, ocarinas, recorders, saxophones, flutes and keyboard and it was truly amazing. Well done to all for taking part!
