Our Wonderful Inquiry Work

Pepa Tots

The children have been incredibly active and engaged over the past few weeks. We delved into an exciting study of European countries, with a special focus on Italy.

As a hands-on activity, we even tried our hand at crafting pizzas, bringing a taste of Italy right into our learning space. This week, we furthered our exploration with captivating science experiments centred around the concept of floating and sinking.  The scientific inquiry has provided the children with truly enriching educational experience.

Year 6 Heart Dissection

As part of their Science and Inquiry work, Year 6 took part in a heart dissection on Wednesday afternoon!

The children loved getting hands on with their Science learning and thoroughly enjoyed identifying all of the parts of the heart and discussing how a heart could be identified as healthy or not. The children then wrote a brilliant reflection and will be working on writing an explanation text about the heart next week.

Maya Angelou

Year 3 has had an eventful week, with a range of activities taking place. During our science lessons, we explored the idea of some rocks being permeable and others being impermeable. We did this by testing if the rocks would absorb the water.  As a group, we then discussed what rock type it was and named some of the properties.

Science didn't stop there for us, we were then really lucky to have some real-life fossils, and we were allowed to use a magnifying glass to take a closer look at the fossils. We learnt all about fossils and how they were formed. As it has also been space week we have been learning all about what astronauts do before they are allowed to go into space, we did some endurance exercises and counted our heart rate beats in a minute. During inquiry this week we have learnt a lot of new information about the Stone Age and how the time periods changed over time and have been using this knowledge to write our non-chronological report.

School information

DRIVING IN TO SCHOOL DURING DROP OFF AND PICK UP

We would like to politely ask that you are not driving into school to drop off your child or pick them up in the school day. The car park is for academy or Trust staff only as well as our minibus and this can not only cause problems for the minibus when returning to school but is also a danger to our children. We will have to revert back to closing the gates if parents/carers continue to use it.  If yourself or a family member that does the school run or your child are disabled then you will be able to access the car park.  Please ensure that you have provided the office with your badge so that we are aware that you will  need access to the car park.  We really appreciate your support with this.

Black History Month

October is a very special month as it is Black History month!

The children have been introduced to Black History Month and have learnt about inspirational black sporting heroes during assemblies this week. For the rest of this term, the children will continue to learn about the incredible achievements of black people throughout history and extend their learning and understanding of how it is important to celebrate everyone, no matter their race.

There is also a brilliant competition in Medway this month to celebrate Black History Month! Please see the attached flyer.
