Our Wonderful Inquiry Work
Oliver Jeffers
Last Friday, the children completed a first aid course with Nurse Lara from Family First Aid. The children learnt importanting life saving skills, practising how to phone 999, putting each other into the recovery position, using the dummy (which they named Barry!) to give CPR as well as learning what to do if someone is choking.
Walt Disney
On Monday, Walt Disney Class had the opportunity to go to The Chimnies care home. The children were excited to attend and have some time to socialise with some different people. The class had made Easter cards for everyone and also gave all of the residents an Easter egg. The residents were so excited and happy to see the children and the children enjoyed speaking to them about all of the learning they have been doing at school. The children also took a book with them and spent some time with the residents reading them their book and also discussing what had happened.
We would like to thank The Chimnies care home staff team for allowing us to come and also being so adaptable when we visited.
School information
Thank you to PEPA PTA
We would like to say a huge thank you to the PTA for organising the Easter discos for the children, the Easter raffle and also ensuring that all of our children had a sweet treat from the Easter bunny to enjoy. Their work is vital to ensure that not only do our children have fun but also the funds that they raise help to contribute towards activities, trips and event days for our children.
We hope you all have a wonderful Easter break!
Polite reminder about Parents' use of Social Media
Please can we ask that parents are mindful of what they post on social media. Whilst we cannot control or enforce what parents choose to post, please consider the potential consequences of your words and the potential harm you may cause to the reputation and personal wellbeing of school staff members or other people mentioned on your page. The appropriate way to raise complaints or concerns you may have about the school or its staff is to discuss it directly with the school's Principal or senior leadership team. Raising concerns or complaints on social media does not guarantee the school will be made aware of it. Please know that we view our Parents and Carers as an important part of our community and our door is always open to discuss any worries or concerns.
ARLO
We would like to introduce you to Arlo who will officially join PEPA in Module 5. Arlo is a black labrador and is 2 years old. The team at PEPA have been considering a dog as a school therapy pet for some time. Studies have shown that the presence of companion animals can improve the well-being of children and lower the rate of anxiety.
Some of you may well have already seen or met Arlo in school. He has been visiting the school during Module 4 on a trial basis. So far this has proved very successful. The children and staff are enjoying seeing him. We appreciate that interacting with animals is not appropriate for all children and any parent who does not want their child to interact with Arlo can inform us of their wishes. Please keep a look out for updates on Arlo's progress and how he is supporting the children in school.
Tag Rugby
On Thursday 30th March, some children from Year 5 and Year 6 were lucky enough to take part in a Tag Rugby competition, competing with over 35 different schools. All of the children who took part were great at listening to the rules as well as cheering each other on, as well as the other schools. It was a long day for the children but they stayed positive throughout the day and were keen to tell their peers at school how they got on.
All of the children participated and represented Peninsula East Primary Academy with pride. We would like to thank the parents who came to support us during this event. We also made friends with the 2 golden retrievers who were watching all of the schools take part during the day (and who were trying to take part too!)
Royal Mail Visit
On Tuesday 28th March, we were extremely lucky to have 5 members of staff from Royal Mail Rochester come in to speak to us about what the Royal Mail do, their job roles, how mail is transported across the UK and around the world, and we also had the opportunity to meet Lenny the Letter and Penny the Parcel.
Royal Mail also brought one of their lorries along too and the children had the opportunity to walk around and ask any questions that they had. The children were excited and spent some of the day asking their teachers questions about the visit.
The children were also given activity packs to complete based on Lenny the Letter and Penny the Parcel.
We would like to thank the Royal Mail staff who gave up their time to come in and talk to us about all that they do.

The free sessions are for pupils aged 9 – 18 (year 5 – year 13) and cater for complete beginners through to the more advanced.
These sessions will offer pupils the chance to work with an online Digital Audio Workstation - Bandlab. Pupils will learn how to create music electronically and production techniques such as looping, automation and sampling, as well as creating music for specific purposes, e.g. music for adverts, films etc.
We have attached the registration form for pupils to register now.
Science Week
This week at PEPA we have been celebrating British Science Week. Children from all classes, from Nursery to Year 6, have been taking part in Science Activities in class on the theme of 'Connections'. In addition to this, children from Year 3 - 6 have had the opportunity to take part in a lunchtime Science Club, making volcanoes and bouncy balls - Miss Hartung has been very impressed with the children's knowledge and enthusiasm. On Thursday afternoon, we had a class swap, with children from Year R, Year 3 and Year 6 coming together to share their learning with each other - finding out all about mouldy bread, washing our hands and inventions for the future. Science hasn't just been contained to school this week though, with lots of children taking part in our 'Bubble Competition' - a special well done to our winners, Jenson, Eddie and Hannah.
