Board Games

Lots of fun has been had at board games club! The children have enjoyed playing traditional games like snakes and ladders and some have learnt how to play draughts. Party Monopoly is proving to be popular and the children have shown their principled attribute when taking turns. The 'stacking owls' game is the firm favourite at the moment and the children have used great teamwork to build a tower of owls!

If you have any board games at home which you no longer use, we would love them in board games club, thank you!

Community Cafe

What a wonderful first week! We got dirt under our fingernails and planted some daffodil bulbs.

We spoke about things we’ve planted before and also thought about things we might like to plant, and make, in the future.

Construction

During construction club, we have been exploring how to make different structures using a variety of materials. We have been thinking about how to join materials to make the structure secure. We have planned what we we wanted to build and what mediums we will use to create it. In construction club, we have the opportunity to be creative and have a wide range of diverse materials to build our models from. What materials can you use at home to create a model of your own? Can you guess what we have created below?

Construction Club needs your recycling! If you have any cardboard boxes (any size or shape), empty, clean pringle pots, plastic bottles and caps (washed out please) or kitchen roll tubes (no toilet paper rolls, please) we would love to have them for our club.

Multimedia

In multimedia club this term, we have been focusing on photography. We have been learning how to edit photos and have recreated photography from famous artists and photographers. Recently, we have looked at Andy Warhol's pop art work and Richard Wong's photography of nature and trees. Check out some of our photography below!

The World

Last week in The World Club, we started by learning more about our planet. We made our own mini-world and then use our teamwork skills to complete a really tough jigsaw puzzle which showed all the different countries and continents. This week, we focused on learning more about the continent of Asia. The children completed some beautiful pieces of art. First, they created the background by sponging paint carefully and then they used their drawing and colouring skills to decorate vases.

STEM

In Stem club, we have began by looking at the nature around our school, in particular the trees and their life cycle. We have researched: why trees need to have seeds; why seeds are different shapes and sizes; and why seeds need to 'disperse' from the parent plant. Our focus will soon turn to the sycamore tree seeds. The children will plan and carry out an experiment to see how these seeds are dispersed and if we could in fact improve their design - all whilst maintaining a fair test. In the coming weeks I will be introducing the children to the KM Charity Team - Big Stem Challenge... watch this space!
