This week, Year 5 have been working with the ‘Emergency Exit Art’ company to create lanterns based on the theme of love, home and belonging. As you can see from the pictures, the children started off with a wooden structure that they had to then cover with strong white tissue paper to form the base of the lantern. Once the white shell was formed, they then used different coloured tissue paper to make windows, window boxes, bricks and roof tiles. We are going to show off the lanterns at the 'Light Night' parade next Friday in Rochester.
PEPA Tots
This term our Central idea has been “Materials are used to build and create”. On that note we looked at the materials the Three Little Pigs used to build their houses. We explored by building different types of houses with different materials and blowing it down. We acted out the 3 little pigs’ story for our friends
In our Lines of inquiry – we looked at “materials around me” and did experiments to conclude if the material was waterproof or not.

Medway Light Nights Lantern Parade - 11th February 2022
On Friday 11th February, there will be a light parade through Rochester High Street, where the children will parade our lanterns for the ‘Night Lights Lantern Parade’. The parade will start at 6pm from Eastgate House and will finish in the Castle Gardens at 6.40pm, where there will be entertainment and light installations for you to enjoy. It would be lovely if you could come along, especially if you have created your own lantern in year 5 that will form part of the parade! It would also be great if the wider school community could also contribute to this and come along and support the year 5 children.

Number Day 2022
What a great day we have had celebrating the NSPCC Number Day! The children and staff looked fantastic, dressed up as digits, shapes and other interesting Maths themes. There were lots of maths inspired activities taking place today and the children had great fun. Children in Year 2 and KS2 also played in the TTRockstars 'NSPCC Rocks' competition, where they were challenged to get as many correct answers as possible. They all did a fantastic job!
Thank you for your donations and your support!
