Well done to Roald Dahl class, who has won attendance Ted this week. In KS2, Marcus Rashford class are the winning class for attendance so a huge well done to them too! We have really disappointing attendance this week, with the lowest percentage overall for the school that we've had for the past year or so. We are aware that there are some colds and coughs that appear to be spreading in some classes but as it is very disappointing, I very much hope to see this improve next week.

Our Wonderful Inquiry Work
Beatrix Potter Class
For our lines of inquiry Beatrix Potter Class have been looking at signs and symbols that we use in everyday life and as part of our community. We investigated and explored what Remembrance Day is. We have used printing techniques and finger isolation techniques to make poppies and researched the meaning behind them. We also took part in the two minute silence.
We also looked at the symbol used for Children in Need and made representations of Pudsey using colouring by numbers, and finger painting. We enjoyed many other activities for Children in Need and found out why Children in Need is held and how the money that is raised is used.
We investigated what Bonfire Night is and why we celebrate it. We talked about our experiences of this night too in class discussions. The children were very knowledgeable about this night and many mentioned how they had been to a village fireworks display with their families.
Roald Dahl & Greta Thunberg Classes
This week, both Year 2 classes were invited to Slough Fort to plant trees, as part of their Go Green Project. The children got to be Eco Warriors and planted sapling and oak trees. They had to wear special gloves to help them with the digging and planting process. The children showed excellent teamwork and good listening skills. They were all very principled and demonstrated some good knowledge about the environment.
INFORMATION
Winter Writing Competition
Here at Peninsula East Primary Academy, we are all enthusiastic writers and want to encourage a love of writing for pleasure. As such, we will be holding a writing competition over the next couple of weeks. All children are welcome to enter and may write anything they choose with the theme of ‘Winter’. They might choose to write a story, a poem or a descriptive piece for example. All entries can be submitted to Mr Sullivan-Stanley by Friday 10th December. A winner for each class will be announced at the end of the term and prizes will be awarded. We look forward to reading them.
