Our Wonderful Inquiry Work

Allan Ahlberg Class

This week in Year 1, our focus in Inquiry and our Rainbow Challenges has been Remembrance Day. We have enjoyed using resources in the classroom to make poppies, and have made poppy suncatchers which will be part of a whole-class display. We have also planted poppy seeds in our outside area, so hopefully next year we will see these starting to grow.

J K Rowling Class

This week, Year 4 learnt a new digital skill. They created fantastic colourful art using a program called Word Art. By typing in words, choosing fonts, colours and shapes the images almost came to life.

From this, unique beautiful remembrance poppies were produced ready to contribute to a whole school display.

J K Rowling Class

In Year 4 this week, we have been using our science and inquiry skills to explore states of matter. We began by exploring what the states of matter were and then identified what items would fit into each group. We then explored the states of matter further through some investigations. On Tuesday, we investigated liquids and tried to identify if they all behave in the same way by testing how long it takes to pour each liquid into a container. We were really surprised by how long it took to pour the shampoo. On Wednesday, we had great fun exploring ways to turn chocolate from a solid into a liquid. We tested a variety of ways including holding it in our hands to see how long it would take to melt.

INFORMATION

Children in Need

Just a small reminder that we are celebrating this on Monday 15th November instead of Friday 19th November and we hope that the children will join in and that we can raise funds to donate to all the great causes that they support. There was a muddle with the dates, however, to save further confusion we will keep our school celebrations to the Monday date.

TTRS Celebration

TTRockstars Competition - Years 2-6

On Monday 8th November to Thursday 11th November, Years 2-6 took part in the TTRockstars England Rocks 2021 Competition. I am extremely pleased to announce that out of the Leigh Academy Trust schools who took part (8 schools), Peninsula East Primary Academy came first in the leaderboard with a fantastic score of 111,426! That's amazing! I'd like to say a very big well done to all children for their fantastic efforts and for being risk-takers when completing their questions. It was great to see the children enthusiastic about maths and times tables, and I hope this continues. The top 3 players from each class will receive a certificate in our celebration assembly. Well done everyone!
