A huge well done to Greta Thunberg class, who has won attendance Ted this week! In KS2, Marcus Rashford are the winning class for attendance so a huge well done to them too! Our attendance had dipped hugely due to parents taking their children out of school for holidays and also due to many colds and sickness bugs that seem to be emerging. Please be aware that the dates for the next academic year including school holidays are already published on the school website.

Our Wonderful Inquiry Work
Greta Thunberg & Roald Dahl Classes
To end our inquiry, both Year 2 classes decided to take action and have a peaceful protest on the playground during lunchtime. The children made posters and shouted their slogans to encourage the rest of the school to help save the environment. The children had lots of fun.
We then thought about ways to get our message across to the wider community so we collaborated to create posters explaining how to help save our planet. Keep an eye out for our posters on the school gates.

We started our inquiry this term by looking at the level of commitment Sikh’s show towards their religion and the dedication they show to their faith. We continued to follow the theme of commitment to look at how people are committed to the thought of bettering their life and how this can drive them to move from one place to another. This meant we were able to cover history by looking at invaders and settlers over time and how they were motivated to move across the world. This finally took our learning journey to refugees and how they endure devastating experiences in order to pursue a better and safer future for themselves and their families.
From this, we decided to convey the idea of an endless journey by creating a piece of art known as a Myriorama. Each child created a piece of art showing a journey, these will then be put together to symbolise the ongoing journey. Year 5 had complete agency to choose the journey they imagined the refugees to be taking. I am sure you will agree, they did a fantastic job!
Marcus Rashford Class
Year 3 has had a fantastic start to the year and we cannot believe how quickly the first module has gone. We’ve had a really fantastic inquiry and all the children seemed to have engaged really well with this at home. Have a look at some of the things we have been working on this module.
We’ve been exploring blending techniques in Art this term and have experimented with pastels, chalk and paint and created our own piece of Stonehenge Art.
Year 3 has also been exploring healthy eating and what we need to stay healthy so the children decided for their action that they want to inform the school how to stay healthy by filming an exercise video in PE.
The children have had a fantastic talk from Mr Ian Bett from Upper Stoke and he spoke to the children about farming in 2021 and what he used to do on the farm. Did you know, there are some tractors which use satellites to drive instead of petrol? We found that amazing!
Alan Turing Class
In year 6 this term, we have learned about equality for different groups of people. Recently, we were able to consider the work of Andy Warhol and his pop art technique. We created our own artworks of Rosa Parks, a historical figure we have studied, using a pop art style. We also made products with electrical components for science that were designed to consider the message of equality. Some great work to finish off our inquiry.
INFORMATION
What are the PYP Learner Profiles?
At PEPA, we believe that our children should embody the ten learner profiles, also known as learner attributes, that are enhanced and developed through the Primary Years Programme. These ten characteristics resemble all that is important when developing as global citizens. We aim to encourage children to demonstrate these in all areas of their lives, whether they are at home or within school. These characteristics support the children to be an active participant in the global community but also develop their role as an internationally-minded citizen.
We encourage the children to always reflect on their learning by self-analysing their achievements. At PEPA, we strongly believe that every achievement should be celebrated and by being reflective, the children are able to celebrate their own learning and the learning of others.
Parking
It has been noticed that parents are more frequently driving into the school grounds at drop off and collection times, please only drive into the school grounds on arrival and collection if you have prior permission to do so. It is dangerous for the children if there are parents driving through the car park. Parking has also been brought to our attention with cars parking on the yellow warning lines and double yellow lines outside. These are designed for pedestrian safety, please take care when parking.
